AMON AMARTH Issue Statement Regarding Shortened North American Tour
February 11, 2002Sweden's AMON AMARTH have issued a statement explaining the reasons behind the abrupt ending of their recent North American headlining tour (following original headliner MARDUK's inability to get the proper paperwork to enter the country to perform the dates),which also featured DIABOLIC in the support slot. The statement reads as follows:
“Many fans have asked us why our recent tour of the US was shortened by eight gigs. The reason is fairly simple. Since MARDUK couldn't make it over to the US in time for the start of the tour, and it was uncertain whether they would be able to do so at all, the tour [booking] agency decided to do three weeks of the tour instead of four. [Had] MARDUK been able to hook up with the tour during the first two weeks, the last eight shows would have been done as well. As it turned out, MARDUK unfortunately couldn't make it at all, and therefore the tour was shortened. We sincerely hope that all fans that waited to see us can understand that it was not up to us, we wanted to continue the whole tour no matter what, but unfortunately we didn't call the shots on this one. As of right now we are in negotiations for a new tour during fall this year, and if everything works out we'll be back to tour the US then.
“We would like to thank DIABOLIC for putting up with us during these three weeks and for the parties we had, even though they were few. We would also like to thank NITEMARE from Toronto for putting on an awesome show, for letting us use their equipment when DIABOLIC couldn't make it over and for letting us get piss drunk and crash at their rehearsal room! We had a great time and we hope that we'll be able to play with you all again some day!
“To all fans in United States and Canada—thanks for making each show a memorable one for us. You kick ass!”
